Classic Cars & Trucks

Our technicians love a challenge. Whether it’s a 1987 Chevy Corvette C4 with a VATS system, a 1952 Ford Truck ignition removal, or a 1932 Rolls Royce Sportster that has been pieced together with original and some unorthodox parts; we can provide working keys and new or refurbished locks for all of your classic car & truck needs.

Pre & Post WWII

These types of jobs don’t come around very often but we love helping to restore these antiques. Along with making keys for the vehicle, we can also refurbish the existing locks and handles to bring them back to their original luster. Not in an area serviced by The Key Monkey? No Problem. If you’re handy, you can remove the locks yourself and ship them to our shop in Kyle, Texas. A decent mechanic should be able to help with the removal if needed. After we receive the parts, we will be able to make keys specifically to the locks, repair the locks and refurbish them according to what is requested. Please call, email, or text for more information.

1950’s

It is always a pleasure to work on these American classics. We are able to replace lost keys, refurbish locks, and replace the locks in some cases. Key copies are always available. And of course, mail service is available to anyone that wishes to send the locks or keys in for duplication, repair, restoration, and keying service. Please contact us by phone, email, or text for more information.

1960’s

1970’s

The keys to the car is missing and you’re ready to go for a drive. Our technicians are capable of providing you with replacement ignition and door keys, on the spot, on the same day. We can also replace damaged locks and ignitions when unfortunate events occur.

1980’s

This is the era when the VATS (PASSkey) system is used on a 1986 corvette for the first time and its success in reducing theft spurred GM to install the system in other Chevy vehicles and throughout their other automotive brands. These keys have a resistor chip in the ignition key that is measured by the car when the ignition is cranked. If the car doesn’t read the right resistance chip, the car will not start. That was great then but causes all kinds of chaos when the key that has been working since 1989 just stops cranking the car due to wear and tear in the ignition and wiring. Of course, our team has the skills to get you back up and running again. If you are a DIY or live outside of the Central Texas area mail service is available. Please call, email, or text for more information.
